The president of the Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Fico, has accused the right-wing government of offending and cutting resources for the South of Italy. This comes as a response to the approval of the budget law for 2026. The statement was made during an October meeting in the Campania Region.
The budget law approved by the government has been described as a heavy strike. Fico explicitly stated that there are no targeted funds for the South or for the Mezzogiorno in the approved document. According to Fico to future is bleak for the south without franchises and transfer of regions.
